Oh noes my gold is missing!

August 22, 2007

If the search engine traffic is anything to go by, Blizzard is deleting a lot of gold from people.  So Blizzard deletes your gold, and the first thing you do is google looking for information on Blizzard deleting gold?

How about don’t buy the stuff in the first place.  How about if you want to play a game, play a game.  You know how money “Can’t buy me love?“, well money shouldn’t be buying you an in-game advantage either.

By the way when you buy gold or powerlevelling services, and then the same company hacks your account to steal your gold, the rest of us are laughing at you.

Malicious or Incompetent?

August 3, 2007

I am trying to decide if I work with people who are malicious or incompetent. On days when I am in a good mood, I like to think they are just completely incompetent. On days where it becomes apparent that I haven’t been told about information that prevents me from actually doing my job, I start to assume malicious.

Why would you deliberately prevent someone from helping you do your own job? Can they possibly be THAT self absorbed? How is that possible in a seemingly functioning adult?

Either way it is painfully obvious I am not emotionally equipped to be surrounded by people who are either malicious and/or incompetent. Perhaps the problem is that they are a combination of both? I thought for a while that there was a third choice, malicious, incompetent or self-absorbed. I realised, however, that being self-absorbed is just a reason for either incompetence or maliciousness and should be excluded from the behavioural spectrum.

So which is it bitches? Are you malicous or incompetent?

WoW as a terrorist training tool

August 1, 2007

Apparently the Australian had a story up about terrorists using games such as WoW as a tool. The direct link to the story now gives a 404 error (those pesky terrorists!), but enough folks out there have quoted the story for the gist of the story to be available:

Kevin Zuccato, head of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre in Canberra, says terrorists can gain training in games such as World of Warcraft in a simulated environment, using weapons that are identical to real-world armaments.

It will probably get deleted

I seriously wonder about the intelligence of the general population.

Someone is complaining to Blizzard that gold sellers ripped them off $45. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would not have believed it.

To Whom it May Concern at Blizzard,
Hello, my name is XXXX XXXX and I have been playing World Of Warcraft for about seven months. I love it – I have always been a fan of RPG’s – however my computer always limited me to console games. When I finally purchased a computer that could handle online gaming I immeadiately searched for an online RPG of epic status. Choosing WoW was an easy decision – it was the largest and best produced and the free trial sucked me right in – I was hooked!
Roughly two months in to the experience I decided to look into buying gold on the internet – having just seen a website advertised on an ingame chat channel. When I reached the site I was impressed by how professional it looked – in fact the graphics are the same used on the official WoW website – and placed an order. The order arrived at my ingame mail in no time and I went on my way.

I think I am getting less snarky.

July 16, 2007

I actually resisted posting a snippy remark.

Terrible terrible mage/priest got caught out by an officer in our old guild using the bot to afk in Alterac Valley – he got kicked out of the guild. Temporarily kicked out of course, as the other officers all pointed out that most of the officers and many of the long time members have used less than stellar methods of gaining reputation, gold, accounts and items. (Why do I even check those boards still? Oh right trainwreck entertainment when the weekly dramafest unfolds). Anyhow, a week or so after his temporary kicking he “retires” from the game with this post: Read the rest of this entry »

I told the warlocks to stop talking about it.

Blizzard has finally noticed:

Uh Oh

Best developer response, ever.

I am above the law.

July 3, 2007

cheater Every time I see an example of these kinds of powers used, I remind myself how little I understand American Law. They talk about democracy, actually have a republic, and behave like a monarchy?

No way the English Queen would override a court decision like that.

Or am I missing something?

Don’t be Hatin’

Whatever you do don’t say the H word. Apparently it’s not nice.

“Mr Howard said hate is a strong word and should not be used flippantly…… The people who use that language have got the problem, not the object of that language.”

It is indeed a strong word.

So are terror, terrorist, “national emergency”, overboard, work-choices, WMD, sorry, reconciliation..
